It would be great if Panasonic took the technologies of bar coding, printing, scanning and network this to my freezer, fridge and food cupboards.
I could then scan my products as I put them away then when I use the products I scan them off. So I get access to a data base that knows what I do and don't have in the house. I can ask;
PANASONIC NR-B53V1
1) What ingredients do I have? What can I make in a set time to a set level of calories? Then I can print off suggested menu options.Or
2) I type in, or better still voice control, what I want to make and it tells me what ingredients I don't have so that I can call into the shops on the way home from work, so that I don't have to go back out.
Hello Sandra,
ReplyDeleteI love the idea and have seen apps for the iPhone already doing this. You simply scan (with the phone integrated camera) the bar code of what you have at home and then: ask for the nearest supplier to your current location of that product, the best deals for that product, what you can prepare with it, etc.
Cheers,
Carlos
Hi Carlos, I didn't realise iPhone were doing this probably becaue i haven't got one. I think it is a market that Panasonic could easily be involved in.
ReplyDeleteHi Sandra, great idea and quite realistic. This would be helpful for us to get the kids suggesting or selecting different menues they like. If there is a nice integrated flatscreen, they would love it.
ReplyDeleteAdditionally, the frige is for us a very central device. Everbody touches it or looks at it several times a day. So, it is as well a pinboard for invitations, class schedules and the like. Therefore, an embedded tablet PC in the fridge could open many breakthrough opportunities such as surveillance, energy management, schedules, cookbook, messages, link to telephone answering machines, email, ...
Hi Sven
ReplyDeleteThank you posting to my blog.
Your comments are very true; in my home we also use the fridge like a pin board. I love where you have taken this thought and the new ideas you have added to the concept, it sounds great.
Regards Sandra
Hi Sandra, i really like the idea of improvng the functionality of the products we make, in order to enhance the consumer experience-- that will be how we differentiate our model from our competitors in the future I hope. I had similar ideas abour Search capabilities on our TV EPGs....with so many channels available, would it not be easier to enter the first few letters of what you want to see, have that programme appear (like an email address in Notes) and be given a list of channels & times when it is on?

Hi Tony,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment, I agree with your thoughts I hate having to look through the TV guide on the Satellite to search for a program to record or remember to watch. IT would brilliant if it had a search facility
Sandra
Mrs Connolly, I was interested in reading your technological ideas through Panasonic products and thought the idea of linking all of the food items within our kitchens would be a great help especially when shopping. If there was a stock level set at the front end of the process and products were scanned in and out of the kitchen then the database could also provide a shopping list and one step further would be linked to an online shopping account where you could have these items delivered straight to your door.....why waste time shopping I say when a computer could do it for you!!!
ReplyDeleteAs someone who doesn’t cook I would find the recipe section of this innovation very helpful in order to get me into the kitchen and become excited about cooking......well, it’s the first step anyway!

Hi Sand,
ReplyDeleteWell impressed with your blog.
On the fridge item, I remember Tomorrows World (feeling my age now) did an item on this topic many years ago. Have no doubt this will become reality in the near future. Will be a benefit to many individuals and families.
